Breastfeeding the Medically Challenged Infant for Physicians
Medically challenged infant; breastfeeding and supplementation.
This course discusses the breastfeeding goals of the medically challenged infant and family. Included are cleft lip and palate, hypotonia, hypertonia, congenital cardiac diseases, respiratory disorders, neonatal abstinence syndrome and more. Discussion around the benefits of breastmilk and its healing properties as well as the Lactation Consultant's role in assisting the medically compromised infant and mother.
