Valerie Goodman, RN, BSN, IBCLC, is founding member of the Breastfeeding Medicine Program at the University of Virginia Medical Center and the author of BreaSteps, a cutting-edge approach to breastfeeding the premature infant. Vergie Hughes, RN, MSN, IBCLC, FILCA, has been a lactation consultant for more than 25 years, has served on the IBLCE Board of Directors and exam writing committee, and has taught classes for both professionals and parents. She has worked in a variety of settings, from hospitals to private practice, as a clinician, researcher, and teacher.
