Nutrition for Breastfeeding
Answers to questions clients ask most.
There’s no doubt about it–as a lactation care provider, you will often field questions about nutrition! Should human-milk-fed babies get Vitamin D supplements? Do they need iron? Will breastfeeding help with weight loss? What foods increase milk supply? What foods make a baby gassy? These are just the tip of the iceberg!
In this information-packed course, Mary Bailey, RDN, IBCLC, shares the essential nutrition information lactation care providers need and addresses the most common questions clients ask about nutrition during lactation with clear, evidence-based answers. Macronutrients and micronutrients are covered, with information provided on how a parent’s intake of each affects (or doesn’t affect) their milk.
Throughout, Bailey provides a simple framework that will help ground your practice: Overall, a diet of whole foods in their natural state will supply most of the nutrients a lactating parent and their baby need, with a few exceptions. Clearly presented and accessible, the information in this course will become part of your reference library, ready to access again and again as parents turn to you for guidance.
A registered dietician and IBCLC, Bailey combines her passions for lactation and nutrition to serve families in private Practice in the Washington, DC (USA) area.
