Role and benefits of becoming a Pathway 3 mentor

LER Logo
Price: $30.00 USD

If you could bring someone on board in your practice or facility who offered a fresh set of eyes and an extra pair of hands, freed you up to focus on larger projects, provided a new perspective to help you understand today’s parents, and assisted when you were under-staffed, would you? Would you believe this person could be an intern? This course describes how experienced IBCLCs can plan, implement, and supervise 500-hour, LEAARC-approved internships through LER for individuals obtaining their clinical hours through Pathway 3. Taught by Amy Black, BS, IBCLC, Director of LER’s Clinical Internship Program, the course covers the basics of how a clinical internship through LER works, including moving an intern through the IBLCE-established list of clinical competencies from the observation stage through the novice stage to competency. The course also covers key concepts such as how to document your intern’s progress, provide effective feedback and how to adjust for your intern’s learning style, navigate challenges, review cases, and more. Additional requirements for interns in the LER program are also explained. Also included are thought-provoking interviews with experienced IBCLC clinical mentors, who share their tips and experiences. Are you ready to be a clinical instructor? If you are an IBCLC with experience, commitment, and dedication to the field, you are. This course will ensure your success.
