Physically assessing a baby is a critical skill for a lactation care provider to have. What is Certification?

Becoming certified as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) is the gold standard in lactation management credentials. Certification is offered by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE). IBCLC Certification is international and is respected by health care professionals world-wide. Please click here for more details: IBLCE

There are a number of other certifications offered by various groups. Lactation Counselor, Lactation Educator, Breastfeeding Counselor, Lactation Specialist, are a few of the credentials offered by various groups.

We offer a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist™ CBS™ credential to those who complete one of the following courses:

We consider the CBS™ credential a stepping-stone towards certification as an IBCLC and we encourage all of our students to apply for the IBLCE certification exam as soon as they are eligible. Having a Breastfeeding Specialist credential may be helpful in finding employment while finishing the requirements for IBLCE certification.

Being a lactation consultant, and working with breastfeeding mothers and babies is a very rewarding career. If this is your dream, Lactation Education Resources can provide the training necessary for you to become eligible to apply for the Lactation Consultants international certification exam.
