My Courses

Why is there no sound?

The most common reasons include:

  • Your device software may be out of date. Please see: How can I check if my software is up to date?
  • You have lots of apps, tabs, or programs open. Please close any apps, tabs, or programs not currently in use.
  • You may need to restart your computer.

Mobile Devices

  • Try pushing the "restart" button below the slide.

  • iPhone: There is a ring/silent switch on the side of the device. Try turning it to the "ring" position. Click here for instructions from Apple about this.
  • iPad: Make sure your Ringtone and Alert Volume is not disabled in the Settings. Click here for instructions from Apple about this.
  • Android: Check under the Advanced section in Sounds and Vibrations settings for Separate App Sound devices being set up. The audio will attempt to play there instead of on your device.
  • Android: Check under Accessibility / Hearing and make sure "Mute all sounds" is off.
  • Sometimes people accidentally have bluetooth headphones connected, and the sound is playing on the headphones instead of through the speakers.
  • Occasionally, students have had success by using headphones when they could not otherwise get the sound to play.
  • Clearing the browser cache sometimes helps with sound issues.
