This one day course will provide certification for Breastfeeding Inpatient Specialist. Taught by Angela Love-Zaranka IBCLC. It will provide 7 CERP's, 7 Nursing contact hours and 7 CPEU's. This is a great course for Doulas, RN's. and Childbirth Educators.

Course objectives
  • Instruct mothers in both baby-led and mother-led latching techniques
  • Maternal conditions
  • Appraise appropriate milk transfer from mother to baby
  • Explain benefits of early and frequent skin-to-skin contact
  • Describe three characteristics of the pre-term baby and how it can impact brestfeeding
  • Recognize medical reasons to supplement
  • Identify three casues of engorgement
  • Define medications that are contraindicated in breastfeeding mothers
